Meet the Niemczyk's
Welcome to our little corner of Sedgwick, Kansas! We're KC, Drew, and Laynee, the trio behind this farm adventure. Five years ago, fueled by a craving for truly fresh chicken meat and eggs, we embarked on a backyard experiment with just six laying hens. Little did we know, that simple desire would blossom into a full-blown Farm. Today, our farm is buzzing with over 3,500 chickens a year, each one raised with care and dedication. What began as a family affair has grown into a commitment to providing our community with the same quality and freshness we cherish at our own table.
Fun Fact: We spent months debating what to name the farm. We wanted it to be something meaningful that represented us at our roots. KC comes from polish hertiage and when we discovered the polish translation of "Dream" was "Marzenia", it just felt right. We are Dreamers. This farm is a Dream. The support for our community is a Dream, and we are thanful for every piece of it.
Meet the Chickens
For meat we exclusively raise Freedom Ranger Chickens. These chickens take a few weeks longer to reach harvest weight, but the taste is unmatched compared to the traditional and mass produced breed. This breed grows a more dense and nutritious meat, richer in Omega-3s and and less saturated fat than faster-growing breeds. We get our chicks at one day old from Freedomrangerhatchery.com. All our Chickens are antibiotic free, pasture raised (with a Local Grain supplement) and free to forage, obtaining extra nutrients and a heathy life. Because a healthy chicken is a happy chicken, and a happy chicken taste better!
Common Questions
Do you pump your chickens full of antibiotics? Do you use harmful chemicals? Are you certified Organic?
The Truth About Our Produce.
Once in a while, we will be asked, “Are you certified organic?” Our answer, in short, is- Not entirely. Let us explain…While we do use organic compost, pest deterrents, and free-range all our chickens, we have decided to avoid the heaps of government regulation that is expensive and frustrating, which would also add about 35% to the cost of our products.
What we can say is we take great care to grow healthy food. We avoid all harmful synthetic chemicals, pesticides, and antibiotics from our garden produce, chicken and eggs.
